‘YOUR LIFE IS NOT MADE SECURE BY WHAT YOU OWN’
‘Greed is the same thing as worshipping a false god.’ Fools say in their hearts there is no God, they are corrupt and do horrible deeds, not one of them does anything good (Psalm 53:1). Fool is a word used in the bible to describe unbelievers. We become fools when we put our trust in material wealth than in God (Luke12:13-21). “How many sleepless nights, anxieties, heart conditions, ulcers, family squabbles, marriage break-ups are caused by the desire to have more, to acquire more? Having more often leads to enjoying less. The most valuable things in life are beyond the buying power of money.”
“We have more wealth than years ago but less contentment: more choices on our menu but less commitment; more options open to us but less fidelity; more opportunities for development of life, yet more suicides. We have bigger houses and smaller families, advanced means of communication and more lonely hearts. We surf the net but only net the surf, never reaching the depths of life. Maybe it is time to change our priorities, to curtail our wants and to commit ourselves to eternal values.” (Cf. Silvester O’Flynn, Sunday Seed, 2002, p.176).
