This is the only Sunday in the three-year cycle when a homily may be about money! The first word Jesus associates with money is to use it. Money has temporal value but no eternal value… when it fails. But the conscientious use of money will win you friends who will welcome you into the tents of eternity. God is concerned not only with how people make money but also how they spend it.
Jesus does not condemn money as such, and he does not recommend dishonesty but good use of money. He cautions us to be careful how and what we use money for, because no one can serve two masters – we cannot serve God and money. Our eternal salvation is more important than money. What are the things that occupy our time the most? Have we invested in the community, people or project that promote the kingdom of God? Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.
Wishing all Parishioners & Friends Happy and Blessed Sunday! – Fr Francis, MSP
