HAVING THE RIGHT ATTITUDE IN PRAYER

HAVING THE RIGHT ATTITUDE IN PRAYER

Jesus through the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector praying in the temple, teaches us to have right attitude in prayer. The Pharisee in the parable presented before God an account of how good he was. He compared his life with the life of the tax collector and misunderstood this as prayer. Anyone who despises his fellow being cannot pray. Prayer is an experience of being in the presence of the Lord and listening to God in the silence of one’s heart and offering oneself to God. The Tax collector compared his life with the holiness of God and acknowledged his sinfulness and besought mercy.
