BE READY: THE LORD COMES TO REWARD THE FAITHFUL

BE READY: THE LORD COMES TO REWARD THE FAITHFUL

The parable of the master who returns from a wedding feast to his home in the middle of the night (Luke 12:35-40) invites us to remain firm in our faith in Christ and faithful in our service to Christ. Our faithfulness will be rewarded by a faithful God whom we serve. Jesus loves us and offers us himself as a priceless treasure and source of abundant joy and security that is worth selling all else for. Loving, serving Jesus requires undivided attention, no distraction, not even sleep or personal comfort should be allowed to interfere with our preparation to receive Jesus whenever He comes to us, especially in the Word and Sacraments. “Listen, I am standing and knocking at your door, if you hear my voice…” (Revelation 3:20).

The question is: if the Lord Jesus knocks on your door today would you be ready and eager to receive Him? He wants us to be prepared for his coming today, tomorrow, anytime, especially at the hour of departure from this life (our death) and when he comes again to judge the living and the dead. The Lord Jesus will reward those who have believed in Him. We ask the Lord Jesus to fill us with his grace and the holy desire to seek the Lord and his kingdom first above all else. Amen.
