BE A STAR – ARISE & SHINE!
Who is this child born at Bethlehem? Epiphany means the revelation of his identity to the nations of the world. Gold for a king proclaims the coming of the reign of God. Frankincense for the true priest who alone mediates between heaven and earth in his own right. Myrrh is an oil extracted from the bark of a tree and is used in embalming a dead body. It suggests the suffering servant who would take the sins of the people on himself. Uniting with Jesus in his mission and suffering, we are the Stars to help people find Him today. Arise and Shine in 2020, help people find the meaning and purpose of life in Christ.
What gift can we bring to Jesus? What can you give to somebody who has everything? Give him yourself, for he loves you and wants you to know that he is your friend. Give him your time, some quality time each day in prayer. Bring him your problems… for he has invited you to come with your burdens. Bring him your sinfulness and weakness… for he alone is the Saviour. Bring him your darkness… for he is the light of the world. Bring him your waywardness… for he is the true shepherd who guides along the right path. Bring him your emptiness and hunger, for he is the bread of life (cf. O’Fynn, Sunday Seeds).
