Today is the last chance to draw people beyond the razzmatazz of commercial Christmas. Focus on the two revealed names, Jesus and Emmanuel. The name, Jesus, means the one who saves from sin. And he is Emmanuel, God with us. Two astounding names. Only those who know their need of a Saviour will properly celebrate Christmas. Let us try our best to Welcome the Saviour and connect with him in our hearts through prayers and good works: promoting justice, equal rights, spreading the peace and joy of Christmas.
The gospel story is about Mary and Joseph in God’s preparation for the wonder of the incarnation. Christmas is a family feast. Are there family tensions to be resolved? Spare a thought for those who will find Christmas a lonely time. Make contact with somebody who has suffered a bereavement during the year. It is a good time also to reach out to a new family in the neighbourhood. Pray for the grace of God which guided Joseph and Mary to cooperate with the grace of God and the divine plan for the salvation of all.
Wishing all Parishioners & Friends Happy Christmas and a blessed New Year – Fr Francis, MSP
