In our Sunday celebration, we meet Jesus who welcomes us in a special way with blessing. The readings remind us of two things that we must consider as we go through life: To be a blessing or a Curse. Those who put their trust in God are blessed but those who put their trust in human beings and material things are cursed. Those who are on the side of blessing are recognised by Jesus, who is the greatest source of blessing, happiness and grace for all.
Thus, Jesus in the gospel pronounced blessing on those who hear his words and follow his way. Eight times he said blessing over them (Luke 6:17. 20-26). The opposite way of blessing is a curse, and no one really wants to been seen as a curse. We always pray for blessing and wish only to receive blessing. The first reading tells us who deserves a curse and how to avoid a curse. Let us listen to the words of Jesus in the scripture and follow him as the way, the truth and the life.
